Ace any interviews with the best final question all candidates should ask
April is around the corner, marking the start of a new job search season about to arrive. For any of you, either a new graduate looking for their first professional job, a student looking for a summer job, or just someone who have applied to hundreds of positions on Indeed and LinkedIn but haven’t found a suitable job yet, here is one of the best final questions you should ask before the interview concludes to leave a strong impression about your performance in the interviewer’s mind.
DO
The best question interviewees should ask at the end of the interview is "Do you have any concerns with my ability to perform this role?”. This opens the door for the hiring manager, or whoever is interviewing you to share any concerns they may have right away, giving you the chance to make any rebuttals that are necessary if you feel you are a good fit for the position. It is also a good chance to get feedback from the interviewer, who barely gives feedback, so that you know what skills you may want to learn more or what you can improve in the next interviews. At the end of the day, if you have the motivation, determination, and discipline to work your way up at a company, there is no reason not to be transparent about it.
DON’T
There is such a thing as a BAD question. Don’t ask questions that should have been researched before coming to the interview, such as who is the manager, where is the location, or anything that was mentioned in the job posting and on the website, as this shows a lack of preparation for the interview, as well as a disregard for the company. You should not be asking questions about the information that you could have easily accessed yourself before an interview. This does not show a strong interest in the company and will not portray the desire or attitude of someone who wants to work their way up through the ranks of the business.
